If you ever stan for an artist with longevity you will understand.
No army member is talking about #1 hits or things of that nature.
When you have become a legendary iconic artist, your entire body of work is referenced and in particular your work at your prime if anyone tries to understate their success.
It's as silly as thinking Madonna wasn't really that big because she isn't selling well now.
that doesn't take away her entire body of work.
that said, not every "major pop girl" has outsold her in fact Rihanna is the only one record sales wise.

its pretty obvious she bought her place. They also knew she'd throw a tantrum if she wasn't on this years list (pretending to care about racism and black lives etc)
