Secondly, in the context of the discussion, Aaliyah follows Janet, so how could she be more impactful than her creator? Next, Janet had a tomboy image in the 80s - the full dress in black, the covered head to toe wardrobe, Control, Nasty, Rhythm Nation, etc all illustrate her masculine aura. Fourth, the are musically similar in that they use visual artistry to tell their story via dance, video, and live performing. Lastly, James and Michael are two vastly different types of artists. So that analogy was rather ineffective.

Girl you just said ax Aaliyah out of the whole conversation just because she was influenced by Janet, which makes no sense especially considering the fact that they influenced different artists.
Keyshia Cole for example, she said she was never a fan of Janet but she's a huge Aaliyah fan.
Um, James Brown and Mj definetly have similarities, and Mj credited Brown out of his own damn mouth
Damn near every new r & b chick isnt claiming Aaliyah as an influence for no reason, or biting her style all together. Her impact on black culture is prominent with or without Janet.
