And that's perfectly fine that your Japanese friend felt that way. My "Indian friend" didn't give two ****s about Beyoncé's "appropriative actions" in the latest Coldplay video. It's called having an opinion. There's nothing wrong with appreciating and celebrating other cultures, and many POC feel the same way.

If it's TASTEFULLY done, it can go without offending people; Beyonce, for example.

Unfortunately, Katy Perry mashed up like 5 Asian cultures in her performance,
leading to a cheapened, ignorant and ugly mistake for the sake of dress-up;
and many people in the black community were also offended by her black appropriations.
