Songs drop out when they fall below #50 plus it was #13 last week. It rose because of the payola to get it to top the pop chart. Spending more weeks in the Hot 100 doesn't make it bigger. Cake was a slow burner, it was really low for weeks. Jealous was higher most of its weeks. And It probably won't stay for WAY more than Jealous either, right now, they have 6 weeks difference, aka 1 month a a half, so imagine Cake makes it two more months, that's just a 2 week difference, so it'd make it 32 vs 34. Barely a difference when the other outpeaked and outsold it.

How exactly? It sold 2x more than Cake. I doubt Cake will even end up outselling Chains aka a 2015 single like Cake.

sales are down like 30% since the same time period in 2015. comparing sales of a song which finished its chart run in 2015 and one that is still top 10 in 2016 is unfair.

Jealous was released late 2014, and peaked in 2015. It sold 75% of its total sales in 2015 and Cake is a 2015 single. I also used Chains vs Cake and they were BOTH released in 2015.
Cake isn't doing so well in the sales department, lbr. It's mostly Top 10 thanks to radio and streaming.
And I know this because I stan both artists, I'm probably the only ex Jonas Brothers fan in this site

Cake got most of its chart run in 2016. And there is a huge difference even between early 2015 and late 2015. Sales are THAT much down (while streaming keeps going up). The only fair comparison would be by chart run, which is exactly what i did and i got Jealous>Cake so far (that can change eventually tho).

It's a combination of positions and longevity.
That's why I like the year-end charts because they give a better picture of what's more successful than what.
Looking at only total sales, or weeks on chart, or peak position doesn't give the full picture, so it's difficult to compare that way.

^biggest songs of the 2010s. i made this list EXACTLY to compare which songs are bigger. it's not perfect but it's a good way to see the big picture.
156. 'Jealous' by Nick Jonas [12.13; #7 peak; 32 weeks]
258. 'Cake By The Ocean' by DNCE [8.96; #9 peak; 26 weeks]

How many component #1 weeks it took to earn each Hot 100 #1 week, on average.
So Grammy Blood is on top because it had 10 component #1 weeks altogether, but only got one week on top of Hot 100.
While on the reverse end, Work also had 10 component #1 weeks altogether, and got 9 weeks topping Hot 100 out of it.

So Grammy Blood is on top because it had 10 component #1 weeks altogether, but only got one week on top of Hot 100.
While on the reverse end, Work also had 10 component #1 weeks altogether, and got 9 weeks topping Hot 100 out of it.

The formula changes, so it's somewhat a very rough analysis

^biggest songs of the 2010s. i made this list EXACTLY to compare which songs are bigger. it's not perfect but it's a good way to see the big picture.
156. 'Jealous' by Nick Jonas [12.13; #7 peak; 32 weeks]
258. 'Cake By The Ocean' by DNCE [8.96; #9 peak; 26 weeks]

The only fair comparison would be by chart run, which is exactly what i did and i got Jealous>Cake so far (that can change eventually tho).

Yeah, but if you compare the time Jealous spent on the iTunes Top 10 vs the time Cake spent there, Jealous >
Also, it's a big difference, it's more than just "sales going down", Jealous DID sell more. It's not like Cake is doing WAY better on Streaming either. Jealous went #2 on Spotify, Cake didn't even reach the Top 10.

That's why I like the year-end charts because they give a better picture of what's more successful than what.
Looking at only total sales, or weeks on chart, or peak position doesn't give the full picture, so it's difficult to compare that way.

Yeah, there you have an estimation..

Work is weaker than Rude as far as #1s go, weaker than SYA at the end, Cheer, CFMF, and TH. Work deserved 6 wks, but not 9. Not slamming Rihanna, just being honest about how the song being so reliant on just streaming with sucky sales and airplay shouldn't stay at #1 that long. Like SYA shouldn't have gone past 9 to MAYBE 10 wks.

TSOS moved 49-42. The 3k in physical sales and the continued building at YT should get it to the T 40 NW. Downloads are stagnant though, and TSOS hasn't reappeared on Spotify yet either, which makes me mad.
