Carly getting 'acclaim' has to do with the fact that she worked with critic darlings and the album was well produced, her 'input' has nothing to do with it.

Her bland vocals and uninteresting songwriting did not help anything.. those songs could be sung by Katy Perry or Gwen Stefani and would not make a difference

Her vocals are actually really great across the entire album, you don't need to be some typical power vocalist belting across the album to deliver quality performances
