All prominent black female popstars catered to whites in some way. Whitney make pop songs up until IYBT. Mariah being marketed as a white girl until she started doing remixes with rappers. Rihanna releasing pop and R&B records. Beyoncé doing the same. The only reason Beyoncé doesn't appear as whitewashed as the others is because she debuted and peaked when R&B was still hot. She still made sure she never pissed her white audiences off until her legacy was already solidified.
There's a reason all these white gays and women worship the ground she walks on. She was safe. Inoffensive. Politically correct. Don't think for a second she would be half as respected and adored without the IASF era, the era where the pop singles did much better than the Urban ones.
