omg i'm looking through these songs and in the early 2000s pretty much the only things that ever got popular were:
1. R&B girls
2. rap
3. R&B dance songs/ballads from usher/usher wannabes
4. adult contemporary
5. bad post grunge bands
there would be a couple exceptions every year, but other than that...
yeah the urban/hip hop type of music was ruling which is why the pop girls tried to go that route to compete. See Britney by Britney Spears or Stripped

good job! yesterday i resisted getting into an argument with someone in public that would cause a ton of drama. restraint is so difficult...and he said something really stupid...but i did it. kinda. i still called him ridiculous once. IT'S A PROCESS.
it's so tragic now. Poor kids.
