uhh, yes. not in the form of monetary compensation, but by substantial government funding in rebuilding impoverished neighborhoods and underprivileged schools.
This makes more sense tbh. I'm skeptical of giving monetary compensation to every individual black person. Does somebody who's 1/8th black still get the same reparations? What about someone who is from a line of recent immigrants who never experienced slavery in their family history? How does this work...

At the end of the day, if a government really needed the money, there is no way that they wouldn't be able to get it. It's more of a case of not caring about the black communities, opposed to not having the money to provide them with better services.
this is exactly why I'm saying there should be a tax exemption lol. we'd have the money to provide ourselves with better services, and if it didn't happen there'd really be no one to blame but ourselves.

There was never a set system in place that set gay people back on an economic basis.... it's not giving them money just because they're descendants of slaves, but because slavery has had lasting effects on them when it comes to economic advancement....

Black people should be compensated. You can't overcome the inequalities faced by the average black American simply by treating everyone equally and pretending systemic oppression did not/still doesn't exist.
