And Marvin I saw you (rightfully! so don't think I think you're wrong for it) come for Bill's neck because of what he said about the BLM activists. But a few days ago after you came for Hillary for what you thought was her insulting Sanders' supporters by calling them uninformed. I relied with a celebrity surrogate of Sanders on the trail ACTUALLY saying this exact words about Clinton supports but you said you don't care because it's not the candidate himself
So why are you up in arms about Bill Clinton? He's also a surrogate for Clinton and not Hillary herself.

I'm not putting what Bill said on Hillary, but they are married and have been together for a long time. Considering she was also a vocal supporter of the bill, it wouldn't be that big of a reach (but a reach nonetheless) to say she agrees with him. BUT I'm not saying she does. She is married to a very condescending lowkey racist though.
I also like seeing how some of her stans in here defend anything that goes wrong in her campaign.

You're departing from the original context of our conversation. If they were holding up signs saying "our youth aren't super predators," and Bill himself specifically states in his rebuttal that the youth were victims of drug abuse inflicted upon them by gang leaders, then how are they super predators?
The leaders take advantage of kids with broken homes, get them hooked on drugs, and manipulate them into killing, stealing, and recruiting other kids to do the same.
I don't think anyone is defending the actions of the children. But clearly Bill recognizes the issue starts at the top, so they're defending the fact that the kids are being criminalized when they're simply the result of stronger, older, dominant, violent, and probably mentally unstable men seeking to manipulate these kids and expand their "power".

Remember what he said about supporters congregating at capitol hill and sending emails to convince congress to pass his bills regarding education? Like wtf, that's not how you get **** done. When he speaks that way it communicates to me that he has no real idea how to navigate the political arena. Hillary has a wealth of experience, clout, and connections to the party that will enable her to do more than Bernie.
|
This is my issue with him....he doesn't seem to have any real relationships in his own Congress. Voters are going to disengage after the election season, he has to have an actual plan to work with Congress

He's drafted tons of bill in Congress and became known as the Amendment King. He knows how to get stuff done.
And keep in mind that Obama was relatively unknown when he became president (in comparison to Hillary). The party still got behind him and helped him do as much as he could.

The crime bill is the stupidest, most desperate attempt at a distraction by Sanders supporters throughout the entire campaign (this is like the 5th attempt). Extremely stupid considering that a) Sanders voted for it too, b) basically all Dems and black community leaders supported it at the time, and c) really, what the hell is even the point of protesting something from 20 years ago? Another example of BLM people having no real goal and just taking any chance possible to prove that they're right.
It's no wonder why the crime bill canard is mostly being trumpeted by people who were born AFTER it was signed. Yeah, it backfired. But pretending it was a diabolical plot to imprison black people isn't going to convince folks who actually remember the climate during which it was passed.

I understand what you're saying and the crime bill was primarily intended to go after drug dealers and gang leaders but when you have young kids participating in those same violent and criminal acts, you can't separate them. I think one of the main issues with the crime bill is that there were no preventative measures taken to offer AA more opportunities other than the drugs, crime and violence that was swallowing their neighborhoods.

They're really grilling Sanders on the unqualified comments and the "she made a deal with the devil" comment

I mean this isn't a far reach considering that was one of the primary intentions of Nixon's war on drugs...

The war on drugs didn't have broad support from black lawmakers and the black populace. The crime bill did. It was a well-intentioned bill that completely backfired.

Considering the years that Nixon was president, I'm sure black people wanted nothing to do with the government at the time.
And having support from black lawmakers and populace doesn't deny the original intentions of Congress and the President for the bill. It's not like they would've spelled that out in the text.

The original intention was to reduce crime, which was horrific in a lot of big cities in the early 90s.
Folks born in 1996 can trumpet the crime bill boogeyman as often as they like but this is the reality as acknowledged by people who are actually old enough to remember it.

it was bound to happen. Bernie isn't even a real democrat. He could care less about the party or unity.
