I really don't get how gun manufacturers should be held liable for gun-related deaths. I mean, it's a terrible situation, but the gun manufacturer didn't cause it. It would be like suing Toyota because a driver ran over a bunch of people in one of their cars, or suing Louisville Slugger someone took one of their bats to both headlights (

), or suing Pfizer because someone took a Viagra to rape someone, or suing Taco Bell because you hit someone with a burrito and they stabbed you with a spork (
yes, that actually happened minus the suing part). It's just ridiculous imo.

However, if it can be proven that a gun had a defect that resulted in a death, or if guns were sold by a manufacturer knowing they'd be used in a criminal manner then they should be held liable. Gun stores should also have protections, but they need to follow proper background check procedures in order to not be held liable.
