ff. Not really that much effort. Cause I've had these conversations before.
Why are you guys ashamed of your interests?

Its not like I get into stanwars offline.
I (read: WE) have a knowledge set that many other people don't have and can contribute something interesting to a carefree conversation on music. I get people intrigued by how much I know about the music industry and they start asking me other questions that they're curious about. It's just human knowledge exchange.
I get the same curiosity when talking to someone about a sport I don't know, or an industry I'm not familiar with, or any other subject I don't have particular stake in like tea... ff. One of my roommates collects tea. And we've had conversations on the different types of tea out there, etc.
Another one of my roommates, his gf was reading about the Kesha, Dr. Luke thing a few weeks back and sharing it with my roommate with a whole bunch of "I'm not sure exactly, but..." And I was able to fill in the blanks for her about the court stuff, the alleged abuse, celeb Twitter reaction, etc.
When Adele released her album, I had a friend who was split between buying the album or (I had offered offered) to give her a zip file. Once I told her Adele sold 3 million in a 1 week, she was like "oh lol...then ya, give me the .zip. She doesn't need my money. Haha"
When I was in Nicaragua on vacation, in the car, we were listening to music and someone put on new Kanye, and then another started discussing that line about Taylor "I made that bitch famous" and how Taylor had stood up to him at the Grammys. I was able to clarify for them that Taylor already knew about the lyrics and approved, confirmed by a Grammy producer. and the speech was just a stunt. Etc.
Music is a natural conversation topic. Knowing more than the average person doesn't make me sad, quite opposite it shows I have a personality and a legit deeper interest in something (to those people who aren't invested like us).
Trying to shame me is just...
