Although I do love a well sourced post, I agree with YOU.

There's a difference in having the political guts to come out in favor of gay marriage when the majority of the country believe homosexuality is unnatural or a sin than to do so when the tidemhad obviously turned and a large % of Americans support gay marriage (like Hillary and my fave Obama did).

Maybe moderate Republicans but never hardcore conservatives ones that want to tell me as a woman what do with my body and would love for the government to dictate the lives of minorities and gays while demanding that same government stay out of their lives.

Liking the same movies and books and other **** just can't sustain a friendship when people have different worldviews regarding rights of women, gays and minorities. The difference in ideology would kill any hope of a true friendship. For me.

We're still on gay marriage when it is now legalized and Hillary showed her support of it before that happened. She always supported civil unions. President Obama opposed it for 14 years (from Senate to end of first term).

Hillary did not believe in it, but she has always fought for anti-discrimination and AIDS prevention. So stop saying she isn't pro-gay rights. Remember she was considered as more liberal than many other politicians during her Senate years.

This is probably why I was never really approached by any of those that I know. I mean they know I'm gay (maybe) and black in a liberal county/area, they wouldn't take their chances.

Most of them were good friends of mine before I ever knew that they were Republicans....I've unfriended a few of them of FB for stupid posts but politics rarely comes up unless it's election season .

They aren't evangelicals so the issue of abortion or women's health isn't something they have strong opinions on but they def believe in the age old lie that the GOP is the party of small government and less spending lol I've had to gather them a few times but for the most part, we're cool as long as politics isn't the topic at hand

It's not about her being pro-gay rights. Obama was pro gay-marriage before he ran for office and I'd bet Hillary was too. The whole "evolved on gay marriage thing" is a lie these Democratic politicians used to tell so that could appeal to moderate republicans and conservative democrats and win elections.

Atleast Bernie was brave enough to publicly state his support before waiting until it was popular to do so. It does say a lot about his character.

(And is probably one of the reason he STAYS beating Hillary in any polls that has to deal with "honesty" and being "authentic").

Oh ok. I've always been a political/legal junkie so stuff like that usually come up before a friendship has a chance to form..

I can tolerate moderate Republicans. I don't agree with Dems on everything and I do believe it's good for a Democracy to have a balance of ideologies.. But anyways the GOP party as it now, as obstructive and hateful as it is, is ****ing useless and the hateful rhetoric of the last 8-10 years has made it possible for psychos like Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and Donald ****ing Trump to become the face of their party.

It is why I want it to die. (DIE!) Maybe a new "GOP" will form, with members actually interested in governing.

That's nice and all, but it matters what she says now. She is all the way for us. She's talking about banning conversion therapy something I don't think Bernie has talked about this campaign cycle yet. She is aware of the problems, and that's why so many people are supporting her and why HRC endorsed her.

honestly I was more of an independent before the 2008 elections (still voted for Kerry in 2004) but the last 8 years have really exposed the Republican party for the hateful, divisive trash that they are!! The tea party movement is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen happen to a party. The way that they were and continue to be so openly racist is astounding! The Republican party thought it was cute to pander to the extreme wing of their party and play to people's irrational fears and anxieties all in the hopes if derailing and delegitimizing Obama's Presidency but the jokes on them now lol the idiots will probably be stuck with a buffoon as their party's nominee
