I'm iffy on the $15 minimum wage bit. Mostly because if it goes up, there should be an adjustment made for everyone else. Now the likelihood of that happening is very small but it's unfair in the case of someone who spent four years of their life attending college (most likely with student loans) to be making the same amount of someone who didn't.

My concern is what are they doing for everyone else? I'm all for giving everyone a fighting chance to live well but the middle class deserves a nice pay increase as well.

In a state like New York, a minimum wage of $15 is a necessity as the cost of living is extremely high. However, even at $60k a year, the struggle is real in the city.

Wages would increase across the board. Maybe not at the same percentage rate, but they would go up.

And why is it unfair if someone that didn't go to college is making more than someone that did? Going to college doesn't guarantee anything.

A national 15 dollar minimum wage is a terrible idea. It makes sense in places like NYC, SF, or DC, but not everywhere.

Exactly. Some states can live under $15/hr wage. Obviously cost of living is higher in places like California and New York, but in places like North Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi, West Virginia, Louisiana, New Mexico, Vermont, Maine, etc....they don't need a standard wage that high. You're begging for more companies to ship jobs overseas. Heck, some fast foods are moving to robots to replace human workers. Obviously we won't have maybe 100% non-human workers, but they'll find ways to avoid paying people more money.

It's not about going to college or not, it's about qualifications and type of workload. It's insulting to someone who studied for a particular career to be making the same amount the same or less than someone who did not and is working a job that requires a minimal amount of work.

For example, you will have police officers who risk their lives (or the lives of others in certain instances lately) making the same exact of money as someone starting at McDonalds in 2018.

You also have people with Communication degrees who start at $30K (roughly $15 an hour) a year in Public Relations jobs in New York City. $30K a year is nothing here.

The issue I have is the lack of fairness and even with wages slightly going up for others, that will literally all go towards taxes, especially with Bernie's tax plan. Wages need to go up for everyone at the same degree to balance things out.

If that's the case, construction workers (no degree needed) should be making a lot more than the people working in the buildings they're building (I'd say constructing a building and making sure it's structurally sound is a lot more stressful than an office job), but they don't.

And no... the police officers should fight for higher wages. Just because they aren't getting paid more doesn't mean anyone else should. Not understanding that logic.

PR workers wouldn't be making $15 anymore; they would increase too. Wages can't increase at the same rate across the board for the same reason why taxes aren't the same for every income bracket.
