Forgotten in what world? I'm sure on some planet this makes sense, but the problem in that logic is that we're on Earth.
2 mega evolutions in X & Y. DLC for Smash Bros. 2 forms in Pokken Tournament including the final boss. Main pokemon in the Mewtwo and Genesect recent movie 2-3 years ago.
The list goes on.
