Interested to see how my judging is received this round...I just had to be honest even if it's not a popular opinion. MY highest marks went to those who understood that "dance music" is so much than just a generic club beat. It's disco, funk, broadway, soul...I appreciate how some of you moved beyond the superficial definition of dance music. That being said, there were some of you who went out on limbs with your submission and I didn't see at ALL how they were dance tracks...some of your albums are starting to suffer from a lack of versatility it seems.

So you're saying people should've sent unconventional dance songs even though they had conventional dance songs on their albums in order to receive a good rate from you? If that's what you're saying, it's not fair. I don't think going for the obvious dance songs is a bad thing, especially if the essay is good, people who picked unconventional dance songs probably did that because they didn't have other options.

No? I think they were just trying to say that they don't recognise these limitations where some albums "don't have a dance song" - Florence is a good example of this and hg explained it pretty thoroughly in their essay that a dance song doesn't automatically equal an electropop banger or whatever.

Not at all, no.

You'll see when my judging comes out - some of you sent conventional dance songs that got a high rate from me, and some of you sent non conventional ones that got low rates from me. It's not black and white. All I'm saying is that I judged with the lens that "dance song" can mean a lot more than just a club banger.
