The same happend to Bye Bye Bye which peaked at #4.
Sometimes didn't have sales but that was her label's choice. It's not the Hot 100's fault.
Legend X got 3 #1's and one top 3 hit because she released all her physical singles.
Legend X:
Genie In A Bottle #1 (#1 Sales, #1 Airplay)
What a girl wants #1 (#1 Sales, #2 Airplay)
I Turn To You #3 (#1 Sales, #14 Airplay)
Come On Over Baby #1 (#1 Sales, #4 Airplay)
Britney:
Baby One More Time #1 (#1 Sales, #8 Airplay)
Sometimes #21 (N/A, #14 Airplay)
Crazy #10 (N/A, #6 Airplay)
From the bottom of my broken heart #14 (#1 Sales, #53 Airplay)

I think Crazy could have gone to #1 and sometimes top 10.
she would have had 2 #1s and a top 10 but possibly only 12/13x platinum.
I'd rather 14x platinum without top 10s consistency.
The only song where should could have had the best of both world was Oops.
Oops was #9 on the hot 100 but it peaked in airplay in June or July and had they not released a limited edition cd (which i owned) and had a full cd single it could have went #1.
I mean this was after the album was already 4x platinum so taking a few sales from her 200k weekly numbers at that point wouldn't have done much as many fans bought remixes for cd singles even after the album purchase.
