That would have ruined the Messianic motif. If Superman is the savior of earth, he alone needs to pay the ultimate penalty (in this case, death) to save it.

I really liked this movie. After seeing if getting panned I was expecting the worst.

The characterization, pacing, and plot had some issues, but a 31% on RT? People are doing too much.

Ben and Gal really surprised me. I walked into the movie with a lot of reservations about them but left quite impressed.

Also the score and overall imagery were stunning. It is a GORGEOUS movie.

I thought it was okay. Gal was amazing and I loved her action sequences. Ben did really good too the warehouse scene was crazy, his solo films will do great at the box office. I really didn't like Jesse in the trailers, it wasn't the Lex I I wanted but I was pleasantly surprised, I thought he committed to the character and I enjoyed his portrayal. Lois wasn't too bad either she didn't necessarily stand out but she also didn't hurt the film in any noticeable way. I loved loved loved the senator, she was perfect.

One thing that bugged me was the audio, I don't know if it was just me but I missed like 50% of the dialogue especially whenever Ben and Jeremy were on screen

. The dream sequences were a little out of place and I think that time could've been used more properly.

The plot was okay, I thought they did a good job at explaining how Clark discovered Bruce, and I guess it was believable Diana would be there. The whole senator angle was cute, she did a really good job and that hair was laidT. I thought her interactions with Lex were fun and interesting. The part with the tea had me shook as soon as she noticed it, at first I thought he poisoned her but then when she looked around I was like ****

. Can anyone explain why lex killed mercy though she's a big part to his character in the comics right?

The way Lex got superman to fight batman was clever although it was silly he didn't just talk to Bruce instead of throwing him around like a rag doll. And speaking of rag dolls ben kicked Henry's ass, Lois having to intervene was messy. I find it hard to believe batman would toss the spear aside though like that's a rare weapon that could fall in the wrongs hands and at first I thought Lois was gonna hold onto it but then she threw it in a random puddle like

. When she went back to get it I was surprised she didn't just shout for Henry.

Superman's death was a huge shock to me I wasn't expecting that at all I thought they would cry then he would recover but Zack really had me convinced till the end. Realistically wonder woman could've just flown him up into space to recover but whatever.

Overall I'd give it a B-, it wasn't the strongest film but it's definitely not deserving of a 30%. Zack just failed to deliver in the story telling compared to the visuals (anyone else literally get sucker punch teas with batman's parent's deaths? It's like he can't help but do over the top stuff like that which was basically a copy and paste from baby doll's sisters death (( pearls vs buttons falling))

Saw this tonight and loved it, I adore the marvel films out at the moment too, but I don't see how people can keep comparing them, they're two very different groups of films.

But anyway yeah, loved it, I thought the dream sequences were a tad annoying at times but overall a strong film! Really confused regarding the awfully low ratings.

Some critics want this genre dead, some others are too way biased against anything that isn't marvel, the movie is deeply infleunced by comic books and expects the audience to KNOW things beforehand.

I enjoyed it so nuch, but I do give thr critics that the editing was messy.

I liked the movie, but the pacing, editing and cinematography were odd, like a whole season of 1-hour episodes crammed into one film.

The soundtrack was terrible. I really liked Gal's portrayal and the small slip that her movie will be set in the 1930s. She really set a good tone for her film.

On the fence about Jesse. Can't decide if it was a fresh take on the character or a highly exaggerated performance of a psychotic character. One thing is for sure, he also left a good impression.

Superman's death was a great finale for the film, but his goodbye words to Lois were cringe.

lois throwing the kryponite spear in the flood, just so she can feel important when she fetches it back 5 minutes later

Akin to a bored employee deliberately knocking over a shelf so she has something to do to kill time.

Bad pacing, bad script, boring acting, bad character development.

All round trash. They crammed in like 5 different endings.

Also, batman isn't supposed to kill

So am I. People were comparing it to the Green Lantern and F4 movies?

If anything, I appreciate the different spin the DC movies have had so far in comparison to Marvel. Marvel is so light hearted and fun and it's tiring me out. I appreciate the grit and grim of Zack's two so far -- even if they ultimately weren't as successful as I would have wanted them to be.

I sympathise with the directors in a way because the concept itself in very ambitious. How do you turn 2 superheroes against eachother and have it make sense, AND have people actually enjoy it (I guess Captain America: Civil War will teach DC how it's done).

I think their biggest flaw was overestimating just how much we care about any of the characters. This is our 1st time watching Afflecks portrayal of Batman we are not at all attached to his character. Tbh I didn't quite understand his character and why he was tortuting and killing people.
And as for superman, this is Cavils second movie and his character has still never shown any depth. I don't care about him, I don't care about his relationship with lois, or lois for that matter.
when superman died I still didn't care, and lois didn't even produce any tears.

Superman is such a hard hero to care about. He's virtually a God (hence Zack really pushing the Messianic imagery). He's mega powerful, kind, patient, thoughtful, etc. it's difficult to relate because we identify with characters based on their flaws (a big reason why I think Batman continues to be so popular). But what's his flaw? That he "cares too much"? Please.
