I sympathise with the directors in a way because the concept itself in very ambitious. How do you turn 2 superheroes against eachother and have it make sense, AND have people actually enjoy it (I guess Captain America: Civil War will teach DC how it's done).
I think their biggest flaw was overestimating just how much we care about any of the characters. This is our 1st time watching Afflecks portrayal of Batman we are not at all attached to his character. Tbh I didn't quite understand his character and why he was tortuting and killing people.
And as for superman, this is Cavils second movie and his character has still never shown any depth. I don't care about him, I don't care about his relationship with lois, or lois for that matter.
