Ugh she's totally capable of acclaim she just chooses not to have it by recording fun songs like Peacock and International Smile. I don't see why people don't get that.
I honestly think this next album will be fairly acclaimed. Like mid 70's. She probably won't have any of those types of songs this time around. There'll still be fun songs but nothing ridiculously in-your-face bubblegum pop. More AC, more mature, not necessarily dark, more songs about love, loss and hopefully some dance anthems.
It's not the physical score it's what the score represents. Success and acclaim are two different avenues and some go down one path, some go down another, and some have both. Katy is not acclaimed. TD is not seen as acclaimed by the GP... it had lots of hits but didn't sell so much due to this very reason.
Older generations buy albums, younger generations stream them. This is something Katy has to consider with the next record if she wants to appeal to both older and younger demographics rather than just concentrating on the younger ones. She's always been about mass appeal but today's mass appeal is very different to mass appeal in 2010, which is why her team failed to realise when recording PRISM imo.
doesnt Purpose have like a 63? yet the GP has been raving about how good his album is. in reality all this "acclaim" is forgotten. if there are plenty of memorable, good songs on the album then that's what's important. everyone will still know of katy's string of hits
and no one is going to buy albums anymore, young or old. its too late for anyone to become an albums artist now especially if your name isn't taylor or adele. maybe a few stans but that's it. katy has mass appeal, she's not going to have it with songs like TIHWD though which is not only thematically but sonically targeted towards tweens
OT: Katy looked decent in that picture uploaded today! Not sure what she's wearing but her makeup didn't look too bad and she didn't have a side parting!!!
