The two-party system is created by our electoral process in the Constitution. An amendment changing the electoral process is literally never going to happen, so we're not getting rid of the two-party system.

Don't believe that narrative. Hillary supporters said that about Obama, and most of the exit polls have shown that they are content with either candidate and that they absolutely hate Trump.

And a lot of Bernie's supporters wasn't going to vote even before he ran. And more Republicans won't vote for Trump. So yeah don't believe the hype. And some polls show that Hillary can turn some states blue.

A presidential candidate is only elected if he or she wins a majority, not a plurality, of the electoral college. 270 is the magic number today. If no candidate wins a majority of the electoral college, the election is decided in the House of Representatives, and each state is given one vote.

This electoral process is written out in the U.S. Constitution, and it inherently creates a two-party system. Viable third parties are not going to happen unless they supplant one of the two parties in power.
