I remember as that was my era and people that that Britney would last 1 year (an ATRL Slo bro claims tea) and Xtina would outlast her and have the voice of a Mariah, power of a whitney and the ability to reinvent herself (CORRECTLY WHILE MAINTAINING HER FANBASE) like Madonna.
The way Xtina had the ability to dominate pop (Britney), r&B (beyonce), pop/riock (Pink) and latin pop (shakira)
That's a horse of a different color.
But yes madonna stans looked down on us Britney stans because they thought she'd be the next debbie gibson.
Madonna saw early on what many Britney stans did in Britney's ability to perform (in her prime) and own the show and make memorable moments, music, videos embedded in pop culture.
I feel as though Britney stans felt that way about taylor and miley their first few eras.
It's all a trickling effect and normal to downplay UNTIL said artist has proven their impact to a point of no denial
