Yeah, she had a HUGE following from Nickelodeon at the time and she got a lot of attention instantly because she could do the Mariah whistle note, so the "NEW TALENT!" bandwagon began and she was going full speed ahead.
Problem was just the right song at the right time. She secured a radio deal for the song, and it had a combination of all of the 2014 trends going on at the time (Iggy, Max Martin production, horns, throwback sound, etc.), so a lot of people really enjoyed it and bought it.
