"Commercial underperformance" implies that there were high expectations to begin with. There certainly weren't, especially when Kiss bombed even with the best-selling female song of the digital era included.
Additionally, "commercial underperformance" does not mean "flop that necessitates dropping." Not the same thing.
The point of this thread is to compare Meghan to Carly; whether it's because Meghan will likely be more commercially successful, or more importantly because she will almost definitely not make an album with the same great critical reception, the answer is just no.
