ρз∂гσ's Best Of 2009 || Top 15 Best Albums Of 2009
Welcome to My Best Of 2009!
Let's move on to the albums that rocked my year. This year was like a comeback year because many superstars put out new records. We had amazing albums, some made you shake your hips like you never did while in the other hand some others made you feel angels cry... Before we start it, let me say, we also had some amazing greatest hits coming out, those are not making my Top 15 Best Albums of the year but are getting an honorable mention!
Let's Start!
Startin' with an honorable mention...
Title: Number Ones
Artist: Janet Jackson
Label: A&M Records
Review: Starting with Janet Jackson! This year I got even more respect for this woman, she went through the worst thing you could ever face... she lost her brother... It's obvious I already had lotta respect for her since she was already a legend... But anyway, this compilation includes all of her number one singles, and I must say it's such a great compilation, it includes some of my favorite songs from her, and if you are a Janet Jackson fan don't miss the chance to get this album.
Favorite Songs:
1. Together Again
2. All For You
3. Doesn't Really Matter
4. Again
5. I Get Lonely
Movin' on to the actual Top 15...
Title: Hot Mess
Artist: Cobra Starship
Label: Decaydance Records
Review: This is one of those records that I wish I had give more attention, it's such a great dance record and some of the songs make you go wild =P. I already knew who Cobra Starship were before "Good Girls Go Bad" (I mean, before the got kinda overrated) and I must say although I love this album, their last one was a little bit better. In this record they decided to go in a even more electronic way, in their last records they had a little bit rock mixed in, I don't feel it so much in this album.
Favorite Songs:
1. Wet Hot American Summer
2. The World Will Never Do
3. Good Girls Go Bad
4. Living In The Sky With Diamonds
5. Hot Mess
Title: Hannah Montana: The Movie (Soundtrack)
Artist: Miley Cyrus
Label: Walt Disney
Review: LMAO, at this point all of you think I stan for Hannah Montana... not really but once you see the movie and you hear the songs it's easy to like it and even if I didn't see the movie, I think I would like the songs overall, most of my favorite songs are by Miley Cyrus not Hannah Montana, and although some are so dedicated to the little kids, I find them really happy, fun and sweet!
Favorite Songs:
1. Let's Get Crazy
2. Butterfly Fly Away
3. You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home
4. Dream
5. Hoedown Throwdown
Title: This Is Us
Artist: Backstreet Boys
Label: Jive Records
Review: And once again the Backstreet Boys put out a new record. This time they decided to go in a Pop Dance way and let those Pop slow songs behind, and IMO, they did a great choice. This album is full of Pop masterpieces, so bad once again they are gonna waste it... You have songs like "Shattered" that make you feel so down and then you have "Masquerade" that makes you wanna get up and dance! Please guys don't waste those songs!
Favorite Songs:
1. Masquerade
2. Shattered
3. Bye Bye Love
4. Bigger
5. PDA
Title: The Time Of Our Lives
Artist: Miley Cyrus
Label: Hollywood
Review: And here we find Miley Cyrus again. This is not even an album it's an EP with only 7 amazing songs (except the last one), when "Party In The U.S.A." leaked I couldn't believe in the masterpiece I was listening, even Miley Cyrus haters liked it, and it shows the power of the song. In this record Miley mixes fast songs with slow songs and the result is great, plus, she adds some more guitars in the songs, and I must say I'm surprised but the Rock sound fits her voice!
Favorite Songs:
1. Party In The U.S.A.
2. Obsessed
3. When I Look at You
4. The Time Of Our Lives
5. Talk is Cheap
Title: Battlefield
Artist: Jordin Sparks
Label: Jive Records
Review: "Battlefield" is such a great album, where Jordin explores the dance part more and doesn't get emotional in every song, as she did in her last record, but it's so damn underrated that sometimes I forget it exists, and that's really sad. Jordin grew up in this album, her lyrics are way better and I find her similar to Mariah Carey in one thing, both of them are amazing vocalists but they sound better (in my personal opinion) singing fast songs, that's why I love this album where Jordin sings a lot of fast songs. But if you think Jordin forgot her ballad side, you're wrong, this album has some epic ballads that make you cry when you're down! Good job Jordin!
Favorite Songs:
1. Emergency (911)
2. Watch You Go
3. No Parede
4. Don't Let It Go to Your Head
5. Let It Rain
Title: Echo
Artist: Leona Lewis
Label: Jive Records
Review: And Miss Lewis is back with her sophomore album! Personally I think it doesn't top "Spirit" but that's because I love that album so much. Leona as Jordin decided to explore a little bit more her dance side but not as much as Jordin, you can find in this album songs like "Outta My Head", such a pure dance song, or even find some beautiful ballads like "Alive" that personally puts all my angry aside. Even though this album isn't doing really well, I think it isn't over yet and Leona can release some amazing next single and go back in the game!
Favorite Songs:
1. Outta My Head
2. I Got You
3. Naked
4. Love Letter
5. Alive
Title: The Element Of Freedom
Artist: Alicia Keys
Label: Jive Records
Review: Alicia Keys is back! I must say when the first single came out I was everything BUT excited, that song sounds too much like "No One" and I don't like when an artist goes all the time with the same sound, but then "Try Sleepin' With a Broken Heart" came out and damn that song is epic and it made me cry it has so much emotional feelings on it. Her album is such a grower, I remember when I gave it a first listen I was like "Boring...", but then I heard some more times and it surely grew on me, as you can see! I love how she always makes amazing love songs with the piano in the background!
Favorite Songs:
1. That's How Strong My Love Is
2. Distance And Time
3. Try Sleepin' With a Broken Heart
4. Through It All
5. Like The Sea
Title: The Boy Who Knew Too Much
Artist: Mika
Label: Casablanca Records
Review: I was so damn excited when I knew Mika was coming out with a new album and man I got all the reasons to be, this album is such an amazing masterpiece, so many happy songs, and Mika is damn original, he knows how to make his own style without copying anyone, and then his amazing voice just makes it even more perfect. In this record Mika explored the electronic side a little bit but didn't left his own style, some of his typical songs can be found here. As in "Life In Cartoon Motion" this album counts with a beautiful ballad, called "By The Time", when I listen to this song I get so down, but I like it, because sometimes your lonely moments are good. Great Job Mika!
Favorite Songs:
1. Rain
2. By The Time
3. Touches You
4. Blame It On The Girls
5. Good Gone Girl
Title: The E.N.D.
Artist: The Black Eyed Peas
Label: Interscope Records
Review: This was my **** when it came out, I was always playing it and those songs made me feel so good and happy, but well I got kinda tired of it... that's what you get when you hear many times some songs and then radio and TV overplay it more than anything. This album is a totally new sound for The Black Eyed Peas, it's full of electronic sound and songs about partying and stuff, great work guys. When the title was announced I almost died because I thought this would be their last album thank god I was wrong LOL.
Favorite Songs:
1. Alive
2. Missing You
3. Party All The Time
4. Showdown
5. Now Generation
Title: Guilty Pleasure
Artist: Ashley Tisdale
Label: Warner Bros. Records
Review: This girl is just a monster when it comes to put out a new record, her albums are ALWAYS amazing, and this was no exception, it's full of amazing songs. Ashley decided to go in a more Pop/Rock sound and although I prefer "Headstrong" over this one, this was one of the albums I heard the most this year. Ashley also gives us amazing bubblegum pop songs and I go to heaven everytime she does that. I hope Ashley doesn't give up on her music career because her music is better than sex.
Favorite Songs:
1. Guilty Pleasure
2. Masquerade
3. Hot Mess
4. How Do You Love Someone
5. I'm Back
Title: For Your Entertainment
Artist: Adam Lambet
Label: RCA Records
Review: I found who Adam Lambert was really recently, actually it was in AMA's when I got all my interest on him, I was watching the show and everyone was talking about him, then I saw him and DAMN he is BEAUTIFUL, I got like "OMG, I NEED HIM NOW", and in the day next to AMA, I downloaded his album and what can I say? It's an amazing Pop album with some electronic and rock stuff mixed in, I also love to see who writes the songs and stuff and when I saw that P!nk wrote "Whatya Want From me" I was like "wow serious?" but I was damn glad because it's my favorite track. Lady GaGa also wrote "Fever", one of my favorites. Such an amazing album Adam!
Favorite Songs:
1. Whatya Want From Me
2. If I Had You
3. Fever
4. Pick U Up
5. Master Plan
Title: All I Ever Wanted
Artist: Kelly Clarkson
Label: RCA Records
Review: I was damn afraid she would flop with this album... but she didn't actually she sold more than I ever expected and I'm happy about that. In this record Kelly left all the sad and depressive songs behind and decided to please us with an amazing happy record, obviously she didn't left all of her sad songs behind but this record is full of Pop/Rock happy songs and it made me love Kelly even more. In this album you also can find an electronic vibe on, it's good to see Kelly going in different ways!
Favorite Songs:
1. Don't Let Me Stop You
2. If I Can't Have You
3. Tip Of My Tongue
4. Already Gone
5. Long Shot
Title: Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel
Artist: Mariah Carey
Label: Island Records
Review: Sometimes I wonder in what kinda world we live... how can Mariah flop with an amazing album like this? Seriously people only listen to sh*t nowadays . This record is EPIC, it has beautiful ballads and beautiful happy songs, plus Mariah pleases us with an amazing song killing all the rappers that tried to mess up with the DIVA. The old Mimi was back in this album. In this record you can also listen to some "almost rap" songs, and I love when divas like Mariah or Beyoncé or Rihanna go kinda gangsta, it's HOT!
Favorite Songs:
1. Ribbon
2. I Want To Know What Love Is
3. Obsessed
4. Angels Cry
5. Betcha Gon' Know (The Prologue)
Title: Rated R
Artist: Rihanna
Label: Def Jam Records
Review: This year I got much more respect for Rihanna, she went through those personal problems and she didn't give up, PLUS, now she is proud to be known as a role model to the other girls that went through the same. But the business here is music! Rihanna still put out a record this year, and once again she didn't disappoint me AT ALL, this album is full of new things from her, she left her Pop Dance side to go into a more Urban side that fits her perfectly, PLUS she gave us some Pop/Rock masterpieces. I don't think I am the only one who agrees that Rock would be a great style for Rihanna, her voice fits guitars and stuff perfectly! Go RiRi!
Favorite Songs:
1. Fire Bomb
2. Hard
3. Rockstar 101
4. Cold Case Love
5. G4L
Title: She Wolf
Artist: Shakira
Label: Epic Records
Review: My Queen Is Back! The She Wolf promotion started early this year, people were going crazy, but then the wait WAS OVA! She Wolf leaked and once again Shakira demonstrated how original she is, She Wolf kicked some ass on charts and the single itself was a hit! I remember I spent two weeks with no lunch at school to save my money for "She Wolf", i'm such a stan!!! The album is full of dance songs with amazing beats, it also counts with one more slow song "Gypsy" and one Pop/Rock song called "Mon Amour", as I think with Rihanna or Britney Spears, I think Shakira's voice would fit rock also really well, I hope all of them go kinda Pop/Rock in their next albums but I won't be mad if that doesn't happen, they are all amazing!
Favorite Songs:
1. Mon Amour
2. Men In This Town
3. Did It Again
4. She Wolf
5. Good Stuff
Finishin' with an honorable mention...
Title: The Singles Collection
Artist: Britney Spears
Label: Jive Records
Review: Jive decided to put out this year a new record from Britney Spears, this is a great compilation that features all of her hits (if we count with the amazing box set), this record had like billion editions, and I bought three of them. People were saying the songs sounded different and I was like... don't be stupid, it's obvious they just say that to sell, but no! Actually some songs you can tell the different, plus with this compilation my Britney Collection is COMPLETED, since I have all of her singles now!
Can't wait for her next record coming out next hear <33
Favorite Songs:
1. Circus
2. Toxic
3. I'm A Slave 4 U
4. Stronger
5. Born To Make You Happy
