Unlike J. Lo, she was actually born and raised in a Latin country and her music wasn't nearly as Americanized as J. Lo's (until her massive flop of a self-titled album, but it was let slip).

Helps that she's seen as this humble humanitarian figure and reserved half her discography for the Spanish speaking community while J. Lo made no secret that she was a huge diva trying to make as much money possible off a successful Hollywood career.

Don't take it out on Army members that weren't even present on here back then, talk to the people you're referring to in person or somehow approach them if you view this as some kind of retribution. It makes little sense to address this at a time when half of them are banned.

Wasn't alive during her reign, but from what my mother tells me and some research, she was starting to break out right as she died. I Could Fall in Love was apparently a huge hit in the U.S. (#1 for 9 weeks on radio), but didn't chart because it wasn't physically released.

She was a huge star in Central America during her days, and she had a touching backstory/very humble personality, which probably contributed to her still being remembered 2 decades later.
