OT: Katy is currently outselling, outgrossing, and out-earning Gaga. She's had 8 number 1 singles this decade while Gaga has had only 1. Hot N Cold gets more recurrent YouTube views than Gaga's biggest hit, Poker Face. Monsters can stay clinging to Gaga's first 2 album sales though literally the new Army

What she would achieve is a better contract. She gets minimum royalties and has no touring power to fall back on. Sony offered her to work with other people and never have interaction with Luke but she refused them.
Not only that but she is suing Sony for neglecting her problems but claims she never told anyone of this before. There are more holes in her story than she claims Dr Luke filled.

Well, it wouldn't be a reach to say that, in case her story is true, she was too traumatized / scared to admit it and therefore lied about it because she felt threatened.
I mean, I don't care enough about her to defend her, but I feel inclined to believe her, I just don't see how going through all this trouble would be beneficial, even if she were to get a better contract.

Don't get me wrong, stanning for someone for music alone is not bad, but you can't claim star power when your fave has done NOTHING in her entire career except sing the songs given to her.

Where is a performance of Katy Perry doing ANYTHING of her own accord that makes her special in any way, shape or form?
You don't need any of these to stan an artist. As long as the music is good, you can stan. I've never seen live performances of albums of many of the music I love or know the names of the artists in the bands that I admire.
That being said, Katy has awful music aside from her singles.

she managed to have 3 successful era with generic pop music made almost solely for the success itself. without any reason to succeed (like you said, no exceptional talent). and that kinda makes her special. it means that out of all the people who tried to do the same she was the one destined to be a star. idk I'd kinda call it a star power (after all she does have like 10 (?) #1s). I don't really stan her (only Teenage God) but I can see that that's appealing.

I wouldn't care about her lack of talent if she had good music to cover it with but she hasn't. I don't know what fellow Deadney's saw in her to hide behind her.
I have to like their personality and what they choose to put in the world.
They have to demonstrate some form of talent or message.
And the "good" music has to be unique; needs to stand out and be fresh.

But that is very subjective. Music if to be judged objectively must be seperated from what the artist does outside the studio. Meghan Trainor can save the lives of countless people but her music remains trash to me. I hate Morrissey everytime he speaks but The Smiths have an infallible discography.
