The Oscars, while about art and cinema and all of that, still are focused on getting great viewership for ABC.
A performance of a song that I haven't heard from a film I haven't heard of until it was nominated for an Oscar simply isn't necessary - even if it is nominated. And again, we all know I pay really close attention to this stuff, so it's not a good sign for the GP when *I* haven't heard of it. It has nothing to do with one being *trans or Asian or anything of that sort. It's cut for time in order to maintain high viewership.
