The U.S. will never be a multi-party system in the foreseeable future unless both parties simultaneously split into smaller party factions. Too many Republicans/Democrats know that if their party were to split then they would be giving the other one a definitive path to victory.

Because (again) I was under the impression that he would balance the American budget which to me is important as a conservative when it comes to the economy

But I can certainly vote republican when the deficit balloons astronomically under a democrat, that's scary to me. I wouldn't vote for any of them this year though

Bernie supporters who support Trump over Hillary are annoying because theyre whole argument is Bernie is the progressive candidate we need. If you are for progressive values then you should not be for Trump. Many Hillary democrats are considered more moderate, which is why it makes more sense that people like Kentucky democrats might be more swayed by Trump than Sanders in an election. Remember, Kim Davis was a registered Democrat

that's not how it works sis in the bigger picture the presidency is a very small part of what gets done in Washington. Unfortunately people don't pay attention to their senate and congressional races as closely. if they did most republicans would be protesting Washington everyday

Democrats are much better at reducing the deficit than Republicans, ignoring all that politically demagoguery claiming that Dems spend much more government money. The difference between Dems and the GOP is where they spend the money on - for Democrats its important social programs and for Republicans its defence spending.

Also, Dems don't spend beyond their means; we hear of GOP forcing budget cuts but thats only for departments that they don't like, and only to justify cutting taxes for the Top 1%.

Fact of the matter is, if you look at the last 2 Democratic and GOP presidents, the Bush's exponentially ballooned the deficit and debt by giving massive tax breaks to the rich and going into wars we should never have entered. Bill Clinton turned the deficit into a surplus and Obama is steadily cutting the horrendous deficit that resulted from the 08 crash. Then take a look at Reagan, who GOP praises to the high heavens, but used neo-classical economic policies that gutted our economy and created the debt problem in the first place.
