1.5/2.
0.5 for Paramore.
1 for Jordin. I have to disagree with you when you say it doesn't top her debut album, I love both, but I think Battlefield is better, the title track and SOS beat almost her entire previous album.

Another great 2 albums on the list. I mostly like Jordin's songs from that album.

Reeces' Best Of '09: Top 30 Albums (26-24)
26. Whitney Houston “I Look To You”
Standout Tracks: 'Call You Tonight', 'Nothing But Love', 'Like I Never Left', 'Million Dollar Bill', 'I Didn't Know My Own Strenght'
One of the biggest talents in music came back this year, and I gotta that other than enjoying a few of her older songs, I was never a big Whitney fan. I decided to give this album a quick listen anyway, and what a great surprise it was. It’s clear her voice is not as powerful as it used to be, but the emotion she gives to every song makes a huge difference. This time around Whitney went for a more contemporary sound while staying true to her old sound and respecting her old fanbase, and judging by the album sales, her fans and the general public weren’t disappointed at all. Whitney’s signature powerhouse ballads are present in this album as well, she sounds flawless in ‘I Look To You’, while the emotion and lyrics in ‘I Didn’t Know My Own Strength’ are just breathtaking. The first track in the album and lead single ‘Million Dollar Bill’ sounds so fresh for her, while other tracks like my personal favorite ‘Call You Tonight’, the collaboration with Akon ‘Like I Never Left’ or the inspiring ’Nothing But Love‘, could give her a new chance to get back to the top of the single charts. I’m glad I got to see Whitney redeeming herself, and come back with a strong album and a complete different attitude. Good for her.
25. Asher Roth “Asleep In The Bread Aisle”
Standout Tracks: 'She Don't Wanna Man', 'Bad Day', 'Lark On My Go-Kart', 'I Love College', 'Be By Myself'
Asher Roth was one of the most talked about new artists at the beginning of the year, he got a lot of Internet hype and his similarities with rapper Eminem got people talking, not to mention his first single ‘I Love College’ was all over the radio. ‘Lark On My Go-Kart’ is the first track in the album and it definitely sets the mood for the rest of the album. First single ‘I Love College’ can be considered a clever way to describe the college life and the chorus in ’La Di Da’ is insanely catchy. Asher addresses the Eminem comparisons in the track ‘As I Em’, pretty much talking about his respect for him. A more fun side is shown in the Keri Hilson collaboration ‘She Don’t Wanna Man’, in which he describes his journey to pick up a hot girl in the club. Other standout tracks include his collaboration with Cee-Lo and second single ‘Be By Myself’, the dedication to his father in ‘His Dream’, and the clever ’Bad Day’. Overall, this record is a great first effort and I recommend it to all the rap fans out there reading this.
24. Nelly Furtado “Mi Plan”
Standout Tracks: 'Mi Plan', 'Feliz Cumpleaños', 'Mas', 'Bajo Otra Luz', 'Sueños'
It’s not a secret that I love everything Nelly Furtado does, Loose was a masterpiece and one of the best albums of the decade. I think we all wanted an English album and I gotta admit that I was a little hesitant about listening to this in the first place, but I’m glad I did. I decided to give this album a listen last month, and my first impression wasn’t negative at all like I thought it was going to be. The melodies are so enjoyable and she perfectly mixes her signature sound with different sounds from other cultures. The album is filled with many collaborations with Hispanic artists and even one with Josh Groban. The first two tracks in the album, ‘Mas’ and ‘Manos Al Aire’, are a good indication that you‘re about to have a great experience with this record. The ballads showcase Nelly’s beautiful voice, especially in tracks like ‘Sueños’, ‘Feliz Cumpleaños’, and ’Silencio’, and maybe I’m wrong but I feel she shows some vocal growth in this album. The up-tempos have a happy vibe to them, ‘Bajo Otra Luz’ and my personal favorite track in the album ‘Mi Plan’ come to mind immediately when I think about uplifting and fun tracks. Mi Plan definitely is a good sign that Nelly’s next English album is gonna be fantastic, I honestly can’t wait.

I definitely don't agree with you on Jordin's album. Her debut was good but not only there were some horrible songs there but it's also an album that sounds kinda weird at the first listen, it grows on you. I bought Battlefield without even having listened to it when it leaked and I don't regret it.
Whitney
Her album is really amazing. I thought it'd be boring as hell
Don't like Asher. He is a one hit wonder with some boring stuff out there. The only thing I liked about him was that photo for G-shock. LMAO.

Ummm... I haven't heard Whitney Houston album, but I really DO love "I Didn't Know My Own Strenght" it's beautiful and you're right she puts many emotion in. Now let's move on for Nelly, well if you liked it, you would like portuguese popular music. Mi Plan was such a dissappointment, seriously, all the songs (or at least the big part of it) sounded so BIMBO to me, and my favorite is that one... Umm... I forgot though, well ANYWAY it's the one that sounds kinda electronic.
I didnt like much this set, hopefully better sets are to come!

Damn girl, going all out for the graphics this year! As for the list, I thought Whitney's album was a snoozefest, but having Nelly Furtado there pretty much made up for it. Mi Plan is actually good, better than I thought.

Whitney's album ^__^
Never tried to listen to Nelly's album. Maybe because I'm not that fluent in Spanish.
