Data from Public Policy Polling show that a third of Mr. Trump’s backers in South Carolina support barring gays and lesbians from entering the country. This is nearly twice the support for this idea (17 percent) among Ted Cruz’s and Marco Rubio’s voters and nearly five times the support of John Kasich’s and Ben Carson’s supporters (7 percent).

Similarly, YouGov data reveal that a third of Mr. Trump’s (and Mr. Cruz’s) backers believe that Japanese internment during World War II was a good idea, while roughly 10 percent of Mr. Rubio’s and Mr. Kasich’s supporters do. Mr. Trump’s coalition is also more likely to disagree with the desegregation of the military (which was ordered in 1948 by Harry Truman) than other candidates’ supporters are.

The P.P.P. poll asked voters if they thought whites were a superior race. Most Republican primary voters in South Carolina — 78 percent — disagreed with this idea (10 percent agreed and 11 percent weren’t sure). But among Mr. Trump’s supporters, only 69 percent disagreed. Mr. Carson’s voters were the most opposed to the notion (99 percent), followed by Mr. Kasich and Mr. Cruz’s supporters at 92 and 89 percent. Mr. Rubio’s backers were close to the average level of disagreement (76 percent).

Nationally, the YouGov data show a similar trend: Nearly 20 percent of Mr. Trump’s voters disagreed with the freeing of slaves in Southern states after the Civil War. Only 5 percent of Mr. Rubio’s voters share this view.

Quite a bit... For one, he voted against the Brady Bill five times which mandates federal background checks for gun purchases and a five day wait period on purchases. So, he voted five times against commonsense gun legislation (something he's now supposedly in favor of). This may have something to do with the NRA spending money to help him get elected in 1990 and endorsing him but that's none of my business...

Also, in 2003 and 2005, he voted for providing gun manufacturers immunity... He's now against it.

Bernie shifted on guns, pretty starkly, because Hillary was very clear to the left of him on that issue. Most other issues, she just shifted to the left like any other politician, or presented herself more to the left. Her opinion didn't change.


This happens in every single election though... Candidates in the GOP are trying to out-right the other... That literally means nothing... None of her stances starkly changed like Senator Sanders did on guns, she just became more pronounced or more left in how she presented them. Mainly because that might hurt her in the GE because she wants to still be seen as more moderate and not as an extreme liberal, which is fine.

The gun issue is a moot point to me given his background. He lives in Vermont where there are a bunch of hunters and gun-owners. It's different than living in DC like Hillary does.

And there's really no proof that her opinion didn't change. She's claimed to support stuff and a few years later she's against it. Just how she claimed to be against free-trade agreements but tried to convince Congress to pass a free-trade agreement bill.

The fact that's she trying to be seen as moderate is something else that annoys me. You're either moderate or you're not. This entire campaign she's tried her best to remain as neutral as possible in efforts to please everyone (all Democrats/liberals) just for votes.

Their voting record doesn't really show the whole picture. I mean that she's borrowed a lot his talking points during speeches and whatnot, not necessarily taken his plans and "Hillaried" them.
