I, for example, absolutely adore Mariah Carey. But if she tries to do choreo and it doesn't look good, I'm obviously not going to be disappointed. I'll just applaud her for trying. Not every artist has the same abilities. I don't love Rihanna because of her performing skills, I doubt anyone does. I love the music and the persona. So, whether she had a couple of bad notes in a live performance doesn't concern me.

This is the problem with so much of pop music. People stan, praise and worship stars because of their persona and not their skills. I know you mentioned music and I don't want to just act like you didn't, and music is very important and justifiable but it seems like so many people are into artists because they'd want to be their friend, or they seem cool, but… well I guess everyone stans for different reasons.
it's like, at least hold some aspirations for your fave. Resigned to mediocrity is no way to live.
