The first single was still generic dance pop with acceptance lyrics that were trending at that moment, the 2nd one was a failed recreation of Bad Romance, I dont remember what were the others.

Born This Way would have fit perfectly in the 2013 scene. Her first three albums were so ahead of the sound that would later come. Queen has always been AHEAD except with ARTPOP.

That's irrelevant. Besides, getting the award has kinda become a PR move. With the team she has now, they're probably already gunning for her to get it. Getting a music related award would be the perfect way to kick off her comeback. A bunch of good press to follow the past few weeks + possible Oscar win going into the new era.
