Kesha is not someone in need of money. Kesha is someone who wants to get out of her contract. So unless Beyoncé or Taylor can make that happen, 250k means ****. It'll buy her a nice car though.

What makes you qualified to make the bolded claim? You do not know the details of Kesha's finances. No one here does. But here are the facts of the situation. Kesha is an artist who makes money by releasing music and she hasn't released music since 2012. To make matters worse, her most recent releases flopped. What this means is that she is not making much money. Also consider that Kesha and her mother accepted Taylor's donation. What these facts indicate, to me, is that Kesha was in need of the cash.
Kesha escaping her contract is obviously the desired goal here but there's nothing anyone can do about it. All people can do is support Kesha through this tough time. The money will help her pay legal fees which I am sure are mounting quite high due to the high profile nature of this case.
It's amusing that instead of making this very easy, logical connection, you run with the "omg taylor calculated media manipulation PR!!" narrative.
