There's a chance! If we get more information that suggest she won't be indicted, then I expect him to drop in mid-to-late May or a little before the convention. If something about the investigation fundamentally changes to increase odds she'll be indicted, then I totally expect him to hold out until the convention.

Also, a note about the emails - I feel a lot better about the email situation with the relatively recent revelation that she was within a hair's breadth of indictment in Whitewater and still evaded that, and this seems to be a lot less likely to yield indictment than that particular Clinton scandal!

There's a slim chance of a Warren or Biden draft movement, actually. Depends on how the party feels about Bernie on the date of the convention if Hillary's out. There's little historical precedent when there's only one major candidate left but it's not impossible:

I really have no clue. **** will hit the fan.

There's zero precedent, zero written rules to my knowledge. They could panic and go with the runner-up, they could panic and all pack behind Warren or Biden and basically force them to run, they could come out of left field with a random other in an attempt to secure the election with a strong and appealing moderate, they could try to move support behind her VP and have them pick a new VP...

I don't know what would happen. I don't even know if the Dem would be able to get on the ballot, depending on how late the indictment comes.

Of course, she could still keep running and win by promising she wouldn't be fully charged or found guilty or prosecuted or something, and then if she actually is held responsible legally - to an extent that would warrant impeachment - her VP would pick up the Clinton mantle.

She won't be

The FBI can only recommend charges. It'll be up to President Obama to follow through and formally charge her. If she were already the nominee at that point he would just pardon her.

It's unlikely the FBI will recommend anyway but yeah she won't be indicted for that reason

He could if she isn't the nominee by then , especially from political pressure. But if she were already the nominee I wouldn't think so (would be very awkward for him to disqualify her like that lol)

Well, I mean, it's up to Obama's administration - specifically Loretta Lynch and the DOJ - to decide whether to prosecute. Obama simply has influence over that (and obviously pardoning power as well).

And Obama himself could pardon her . So I don't see it as being an issue of she already were the nominee but if she wasn't at the time of indictment then...yikes

it certainly would be an issue cause there's no way she's winning the general if she is indicted lol that being said, I seriously doubt that'll happen

But would he?

On one hand, that could look literally horrible for both of them - it could come across as an admission that she did break the law but that she's above it. On the other hand, Obama himself has said that national security was not put at risk and that's the focus of the FBI probe, and other SOS's have now been shown to have done similar things, so it may not be worth prosecuting her at all.

Plus, we're all assuming she's potentially going to be prosecuted - there's a very real, relatively high chance that the only people who will get in legal trouble would be her assistants, aids, staffers, and potential contractors.

Hillary's wicked smart - I have a strong feeling she preemptively protected herself from prosecution by having other people take most actions in this situation.
