Kendrick Lamar was still THE biggest winner of the night, winning five awards. AOTY was always going to be a hurdle because of the makeup of the majority of voters and rap not being properly represented in the marquee categories.

At the end of the day, To Pimp a Butterfly will be one of those albums that will be mentioned along side the greatest albums of all time. 1989 won't have that luxury, just like about 75% of AOTY winners.

I think 1989 will be remembered (since it is practically tied as Her peak) but completely agreed.

The good thing is he won best rap album, and wasn't snubbed twice like 2013. I'm also glad BBTM won Urban Contemp (though Miguel should've won that) along with Black Messiah winning R&B. The Grammys wasn't a total flop. But they're still scared of awarding black artists with their most important award.
