I think this is more common than you'd think. I was watching this random Youtube video yesterday and part of the conversation was a Canadian guy explaining to an American that Africa is a continent, with different countries (after the American mistakenly stated that there is one currency in the whole of Africa).
Still, how stupid do you look by presenting yourself as a philanthropist re: building schools in Africa, and you don't even know the most basic things about the region.
