As a former real stan now nostalgia stan I wish she had died in 2008 (she'd be an all time legend next to Hendricks, Joplin, Lennon, etc), but as a sometimes compassionate human being I guess it is the best for her.
But then she wouldn't have released one of her greatest albums, Femme Fatale, if that happened!

Pop Vocal Album isn't about the vocals, the 'Vocal' distinction only separates it from 'Instrumental' albums, the award is for the work as a whole, encompassing songwriting and production as well.
Can you imagine winning AOTY for one of your very first albums? I'd be so dumbstruck. Would have no clue where to go with my career so early on. Lord made the right decision by just making an album afterwords that was entirely Her, in every way.
