Kendrick won't get it. The only hip-hop albums that won were mega-sellers with #1 hits, TPAB has the critical acclaim and the cultural significance but it doesn't have a recognizable song, and that's going to hurt it with a lot of the Academy because most of them don't actually listen to the albums nominated My prediction is Alabama Shakes, who don't have a big song either but for the past 10 years they've gone with very organic-sounding albums and theirs fits the bill the most.

Taylor had her 'it girl' momentum swept away by Adele, The Weeknd is the "happy to be there" slot, and Chris Stapleton isn't huge enough yet to give him enough support.

I just have this feeling the trend will be bucked this year. I'm not saying this just because I want Kendrick to win (he deserves it by far), but it's just this feeling I'm getting. I think Kendrick has a lot of support and respect this year. It's funny because if the voters actually listen to the album, it has all of the elements they tend to look for ('70s funk/psychedelia, '90s neo-soul and contemporary jazz).

Alabama Shakes make sense, especially since they have those technical nominations. So, you could definitely be right on this!

I'd much, much, much rather see Kendrick win (my fave of the nominees is Traveller but TPAB is a way more impressive and ambitious album) but they have been so boring with their choices lately

And the Loose reaction shot would be worth it, considering "Bad Blood" might have given him the mainstream exposure/momentum to win.
