She may not have "secured an urban fanbase," but she still put out songs like HTILY, Take A Bow, Life Your Life, Rehab, etc. She was still speaking to them after she crossed over. She was still well known and active enough in the Urban community for them to have supported her more. It's not like she was a complete outsider with no songs that the Urban crowd would know, like you insinuated when you compared her to Katy.

For the Híve to be making these reaches when pretty much all of IASF and many parts of ST are just as pandery... just knock it off. A collaboration with Lady Gaga and Shakira. Running to a European DJ for a hit as recently as this year. Gather yourselves.

MOTS is more self-celebrating than ANY Beyoncé album. 4 and BDay come close but, alas.
