I don't think having a gay fan base is a bad thing. Minorities tend to be more loyal (see blacks supporting Empire even though it's the worst show ever, etc.). This is why Cher & MADonna have had such great longevity as well. The problem with having too many gays in your base though is that you will never be a true legend like MJ, Angelina, Marilyn, etc. and you'll kinda be a gay-only artist (like Cher & MADonna).
