And if Madonna was doing it, you'd be singing a completely different tune and it wouldn't be to "promote" Madonna
Talk about hypocrisy!!

They could NOT have chosen a better ARTIST and PERFORMER to honor David Bowie and I'm glad the industry realizes that FACT.

Blame yourself for getting excited over false information because GAGA made it pretty clear she was never doing new material even with the Intel ****
|
Like??? Why are they having a meltdown when we knew there was no new music associated with the Intel thing from the beginning? Like you're mad because Gaga is honoring one of her biggest inspirations who just died instead of singing a melody of her old songs or something?

First of all, Madonna can be an amazing singer.
second of all, Madonna is very creative, political, and outspoken. David respected her. Did he like her? I don't know. He referenced being with Madonna and sean before, maybe they hung out. I don't think they were close friends. HOWEVER, He didn't love the other one this topic's about AT ALL. and that's a fact.
and third, if bowie would read what you are saying he would be disgusted by putting down artists just based on vocals. there's nothing more boring than a technically "good" singer. if you have nothing to say, that ahem "voice" is useless.
I don't know if Madonna would be good to do this today, but to say "she's not worth it" is unfair too. I think she would do an amazing job if it was done a certain way that fits her and if they rehearsed a lot, an intimate way, or something very special.. but they could've thought of something
gaga? that's a joke. and the hypocrisy of the grammys.. they don't give a **** about bowie. this is all just a promotion for gaga again
and I don't think gaga loved him a lot. her promo team probably just put his symbol on her head to make her a little different for a photo. she was hanging out with her boyfriend on the beach when he died. when your fav artist dies you won't stop talking about it in someway or let out steam. you are not quiet (or having fun on the beach) the same day
I agree with Briseis that some of his group of friends should do it. it would be sincere and real

Jeez, people can respect other artist's death without posting about it on social media

Who said anything about Madonna not being good enough. I said she's not a good singer but she's an amazing performer and I'm sure she'd put on quite a show but it would be dragged because of her vocal inability and instability which would take from the tribute itself. Don't take everything as an insult. I'm sure she'd do a better job than most.
As for Gaga: Did you even read the article?
Quote:
“We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year’s show, but when David passed — almost in a single moment — we knew we had to change direction,” said executive producer of the Grammy Awards Ken Ehrlich. “We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She’s perfect for it.”
|
She was asked to perform. She was going to perform; Bowie tribute or not, she would have gotten her promo. They just thought it'd be fit for her to tribute one of her most beloved idols since she's known for giving brilliant tribute performances.

Anyways you can't deny that Gaga is his biggest fan and this is probably one of the biggest honors for her. At least she does have some kind of special connection to him.

she wanted his approval and he never gave it. she was having fun on the beach with her boyfriend when everyone knew about bowie.

I'm DYING @ "she was hanging out at the beach when BOWIE died"
Good God
_
To those monsters overreacting, it doesn't necessarily mean the Intel ****/other performance is cancelled, it might simply mean that isn't going to be the FOCUS of the show anymore which is what they planned it to be hence the "change in the direction"

she wouldn't be dragged because she CAN sing. however it's not a whitney tribute it is a bowie tribute
it's about the art, the message, and the presence/character and honesty of an artist. it's not about the voice alone. bowie isn't the best singer either. i can't at this simple minded belief that you can have the best performance, something very artistic, with a strong message, but because they aren't belting their vocals it puts down the whole performance. that's such ********. even lou reed isn't the best singer.. but they do something special with how they are on the stage (and it has nothing to do with production) M can grab her guitar and sing a lot of songs and get love for it. she can go on stage in a more simplistic setting and get love as well. but even as a fan I know its better that M isn't gonna do it. she's on tour and I just don't think she would even want to do it. something like that has to come from a very close friend so it's intimate
annie lennox would be interesting
