Tbh we should all want this. Get the socialist against the Trump or someone equally as inelectable and watch a 3rd party get some attention due to the lack of good candidates. None of the candidates are good anyways so why choose the best of the worst when you can instead get the most inelectables up there?

Cruz being ultra-religious might be a factor. Also he's had a strong ground game. Also, I think a lot of people who would've chosen Trump just got deflected some kind of way. Iowa has a closed primary. They might not have known that they had to change their registration to "Republican" in order to be in a Republican caucus. Cruz definitely has support from registered Republicans. Registration won't matter in the general election, though. Also, the weather might be a factor.
