People will end up being nostalgic for music they liked in their teens/tweens more than at any other stage. Sorry if you don't understand this. Take a literature course.
Don't be an idiot, Ezra.
Nostalgia can be about any part of your life.
Toxic is for sure less dated-sounding than any Lady Gaga or Keshit song, if that's something to be proud of. Then you have songs like Complicated by Avril Lavigne which is more timeless than Toxic is.
True, Avril's classics are sooo timeless (like actually timeless, not gays on forums lisping about how timeless their fav's songs are)
Songs I think of when I think of the 2000s
Crazy in Love
Let Me Love You
Poker Face
SexyBack
Cry Me a River
Rock Your Body
I'm Like a Bird
Hollaback Girl
Let Me Blow Ya Mind
Beautiful
I Kissed a Girl
Umbrella
I Gotta Feeling
Right Round
Viva la Vida
Hey Ya
Crazy
Promiscuous
Sweet Escape
Just Dance
Songs I don't think of when I think of the 2000s
Toxic
True, Toxic was only a minor hit stateside; I wouldn't really consider it a touchstone of the '00s decade by any means.
I'm pretty sure if any Gaga album was promoted on the front page of itunes at 1/3rd the price it would be charting high Literally anyone this would work for. Poor knees.
Crazy In Love
Lose Yourself
Since U Been Gone
We Belong Together
Gold Digger
I Gotta Feeling
Toxic
Umbrella
In Da Club
American Idiot
Beautiful
99 Problems
Dilemma
Hey Ya!
Hmm these are probably the most iconic 00's songs. I wouldn't put Poker Face in. It doesn't hold up well, sounds really dated. BR is probably her closest thing to a classic.
