That song really isn't a good example, could you really imagine another artist singing what's my name? Or the song she just released, work? People who cover Rihanna's songs could never really capture the vibe that rih does, people who record the demos don't really capture the record like intended because her sound is signature. There's a reason why she's lasted so long in the industry.
