I think people do too much on This Moment. The production is amazing, the melody is actually really good too, and the lyrics (especially for Prism) really aren't that bad. The execution is a little off but the ideas and metaphors are good.
"Do you ever think that we're just chasing our tails? Like life is one big fast treadmill? And we pop what is prescribed if it gets us first prize."
Lyric writing is more than just what's on the surface. I personally don't care for the actual analogies used here ("chasing our tails" seems really juvenile/awkward and "big fast treadmill" is elementary wording, but the rest is okay). But the message here is good and relates perfectly to the song; going around in circles, can only go forwards — never backwards, doing anything to make this moment count for more. I also kind of like the treadmill part because you can see so clearly how Katy was inspired to use that idea, as she has the big fast treadmill on the Prismatic World Tour stage. It's cute. But instead of "big" and "fast" she could have chosen more sophisticated language.
All of this is still better than wishing her skin was a costume she could unzip and strip. That imagery is just awkward no matter which way you look at it, and the meaning there isn't positive; she should be encouraging people to love themselves, not wish they were something else.

I do appreciate how the lyrics to This Moment are quite reflective of society nowadays, but it's just the execution was totally off
is cynthia even reliable always thought that was goldsoundz
also no matter how you look at it katy ruined any sort of potential this moment had with her pedestrian writing. love me's like an inch higher better than tm

How's she encouraging people to wish they were someone else? The next line she says literally that she can't be anyone but herself because that's who she meant to be. Love Me is very underrated on this base and the unzip and strip line is far from being tragic like you guys think it is
As for This Moment, it grew a lot on me this month, but still the production and the vocals are way too demo-ish.
