That statement you quoted was in regards to Harry's claim. I'm saying that GE polls aren't the only factor that go into Bernie's electability which triggered Harry to say that.

Democrats could conceivably win the Senate, but we were all talking about the House. The Democrats don't have a realistic shot of taking back the House until after the next census thanks to Republican state legislatures controlling redistricting at the moment. Gerrymandering out the wazoo.

I wasn't even following closely that you guys were just referring to the House, but my point is that Republicans can lose congress during Bernie's tenure as president, therefore many of the policies he's proposing would be easier to pass.

Its not a technicality when you admit youre not following the conversation. It just seems like you are not paying attention to what you are writing and what others are saying. Getting the House of Reps vs Senate mixed up especially in the next election is very different.

Also, the Democrats will be defending 25 seats in the Senate in 2018 while the Republicans will be defending 8. Which will make it very difficult for them to have it in 2018.

I was not even part of that conversation to begin with. My intent of that post was to ask why we're pretending like Republicans can't lose congress to Democrats and give Bernie the accessibility to pass his proposals easier.

I would say yes definitely to both 2016 and 2018. It is the reason why Obama couldn't help Democrats gain HOR control in 2012 even though he carried the popular vote by 4% points.

You must also take into account non-election years are going to be stronger for Republicans especially with Bernie as President. Additionally, statistically, 6th year (2022 in Bernie's case) presidents always have terrible HOR/Senate numbers.


This is not anything against Bernie. HRC would have to deal with the same conditions.

Aren't some GOP candidates like Trump advocating Single-payer? I feel like Bernie might be able to pass a bipartisan legislation even if he doesn't have control of the House.
