First of all, I’d like to inform you that shortly after the PayolaLambily Awards, I decided to take a shower. As I was singing Dreamlover, I slipped and fell. I was in a lot of pain so I managed to pull myself out and somehow put some clothes on. My brother, who is a doctor, checked me out and said that my shoulder is swelling and bruised and I’m lucky to not have dislocated it. What kind of almost 2013 Mariah teas am I going through in my life...
Anyway…thank you to the two lambs that decided to participate. I really appreciate that you both took the time to do this and didn’t make me look like a complete fool. .
I really hoped this would be a success but I guess I was just a little too sanguine about it. Oh well.

I can’t even know what else to say. I mean…I guess we could name it Clown 2 except this is a little more…direct. I lowkey wished you’d made your subject the candy fool and called it “The Warning pt 3”.
On a more positive note, I did quite like the rhyming. That was on point. I also love the inclusion of the lethal shade Janet served. I enjoyed reading this. It made me smile, laugh and feel proud of Mariah and all she’s accomplished.

I’m horrible at writing so heres my messy ass few words
I was underprivileged in my childhood (when it comes to Mariah). My earliest memories are probably me singing along to her music video for WBT. Pre-lamb days of course I knew of her, but I didn’t /know/ her
I became a lamb right before #B (which at first I wasn't crazy about, don't come for me.)
I really fell in love with Vision of Love after hearing it on the voice (s3) and I went to listen all through Mariah's discography (which I did take my time ofc). I didn't really realize how other worldly her voice was until I was listening to undubbed footage of the '95 MSG concert and her easily swifting between C5/C#5 in vibrato during Make it Happen just amazed me so much.
Her amazing vocal ability inspires me to push my somewhat decent singing skills. My sister told me that I would never be able to hit the whistles notes in Emotions and to give up so, of course that fueled me to watch youtube tutorials and practice. This was 2 years ago and I’m still slayin it, poor Mariah.

#Beautiful wasn’t that long ago (3 years to be exact) yet when I read your posts it feels as if you’ve been a lamb as long as myself. That’s one thing I love about you. You’ve shown time and time again that you’re a dedicated and passionate fan of Mariah. I really hope you win the Best New Lamb award because I think you truly deserve it.
Slay at you proving your sister wrong. A true case of “never never listen to anybody when they try to discourage you, because they do that, believe me.” I need to apply that mentality to myself.
You’re one of my favourite lambs and a very zealous one at that. I’m so glad that, although late, Mariah was able to win you over and you became one of us. I predict you’ll overthrow Fefe in the future and become a very prominent member of ATRL as the face of lambs.

The first thing that I have to say is that I feel incredibly intimidated in judging a song that YOU wrote considering how you were a PH judge and you’re an English teacher too?
The little note you included was cute. Thanks for that, it helped.
Was this a Mariah type song? I think it was through and through. I especially adored the use of language. We all know that Mariah is the vocabulary queen and has taught us all many words through her songs. The Dictionary Chanteuse. Use of words like abject, forlorn and desolate heightened my spirit and took your song to another level. And then there’s the -ation rhymes in verse 2…..which truly did remind me of DFAU (she’ll never be MC comes to mind).
The imagery is the best thing about these lyrics. It almost makes me wish Mariah had gone with that instead of her version of Meteorite, which if we were to call a spade, a spade, track 10 was just not very space-y.
Slay at you including Mariah’s alcoholism in the bridge. That’s very Mariah of you to make a record really personal yet relatable to the masses.
My only slight negative is that…whilst I appreciate rhythm changes in songs, it just doesn’t read well when you don’t have a melody in your head to base it on.
But other than that I think you did an excellent job. And whilst your inspiration was 2014 Mariah, this song felt, to me, like classic 90’s Mariah.

Before we begin to form full, intact memories as children, we remember the first few years of our lives in fragmented snapshots. This is how I remember my early years: the wallpaper in my childhood bedroom; a peeling yellow linoleum floor; the slender frame of a singer standing before a window, a large tree just outside. I learned later that the yellow floor was in our kitchen, that the woman by the window was Mariah Carey in her debut music video. By the time Emotions was released, I remember more: flipping to MTV, I saw the exhilarated chanteuse in the backseat of a convertible, the wind blowing her hair back. I waited eagerly for the Dreamlover video to come on again, so I could see Mariah gently swaying in a field of flowers and taking off in a hot-air balloon. And with the release of Fantasy, I was finally old enough to begin my own Mariah collection and to identify as a Lamb in spirit, if not yet in name.
I literally grew up with Mariah Carey, who provided the soundtrack to my life as the years went by. Of course, I couldn’t relate to every song as it came out. I mean, come on, I was only 3 and a half when I Don’t Wanna Cry came out! But the magical thing about Mariah and her music is that it’s timeless: as I’ve grown up and experienced life and love and loss, I’ve gone back to most of the songs in her discography with a new appreciation. When a certain ex dumped me and then sent me daily emails begging me back, I returned to Someday. When my young friend passed away, I rediscovered The Wind. When I moved out of my mom’s house, I sang the words to I Am Free with greater passion than ever before.
While my music taste has evolved and I’ve stopped listening to certain artists that I used to consider my faves, I know my love of Mariah will never fade. Even after so many years of being a Lamb, I’m still learning to appreciate some hidden gems in her discography as I also enjoy her outstanding recent musical output. Mariah is the only artist I would fly across the country to see, the only artist I would devote countless hours to by hosting a discography rate, and the only artist who has been with me my whole life. And I really want that Emotions vinyl

Fefe, this was such a beautiful read. I felt like I was reading my life story in the first paragraph tbh. I think everything you said about Mariah is 100% (putting my 1s up) true. Her music is timeless and she’s probably the one artist that I can go to for any moment of my life. And she has so much of it that 26 years later, I’m still discovering gems that may have been overlooked earlier on in my life.
Although there have been times where I’ve felt like you don’t like me (hopefully my own paranoia), I’m truly grateful to know a lamb like yourself exists. You’re the face of the lambs on ATRL and the perfect ambassador of the fan base. I enjoy reading your posts and always look forward to reading what you have to say.
