The prism era pretty much determined what she could excel in and what she could no longer get away with.
Her videos need to be iconic - Birthday
She can't do schmaltzy cheesy ballads- Unconditionally
She can do cliche pop songs but will they have longevity - Roar
She can put out music that sounds fresh and crossovers many genres - Dark horse
Her This is how we do (love ha) single showed that if she's going to put out songs like that then they can't close the era. They need to happen earlier in the era.
I think Katy and company learned a lot of lessons from the Prism era and it's still 2x platinum with 2 #1 hits.
she just needs a perfect blend of her strengths
