Lana del Rey has such sweet melodies, ugh if she only really improved her lyricism she'd the but she'd rather sing of 'cony island queen' and 'soft ice cream' instead of exploring deep themes
Take Ashanti her first album. The singles are painting a picture of a very unhealthy co-dependent relationship. She's completely lost in her male partner, being taken advantage of, and emotionally abused.
The songs are so good, but you don't realize how unhealthy this is.
All my friends are wasted
And I hate this club
Man I drink too much
Another Friday night I wasted
My eyes are black and red
I'm crawling back to your bed

She did that though, that's why Honeymoon is her best work to date.
baby, I can't see my worth
living here on God's green Earth
you don't know what you've done to me
I never thought I'd need you desperately
it's kind of sick how I'm stuck on you
but I don't care 'cause I'm needin' you
and how I feel will remain the same
'cause you're my baby
Dumb bitch.
But the song is so good.
See, when I get the strength to leave
You always tell me that you need me
And I'm weak cause I believe you
And I'm mad because I love you
So I stop and think that maybe
You can learn to appreciate me
Then it all remains the same that
You ain't never gonna change
That's why I love Honeymoon, but I want her to do it more, take 'Salvatore' for example. Such beautiful melodies but some of the lyrics turn me off
EDIT: ****ing autocorrect
Honeymoon wouldn't be complete without a couple trashy, over the top, daddy-loving Lana songs though. I love it tbh. Salvadore can wait now it's time to eat soft ice cream.

The push-pull of a co-dependent relationship. Those lyrics are the tea...musically.

With the theme of the album I guess you're right, but I am so ready for an album without those, just simply strong lyricism which she's more than capable of doing.
