If the Oscars are strictly a white affair and not just an award in recognition of film then it should be stated as so.

The Oscars are not "strictly a white affair", hence why many black actors have been nominated and won. Their president is black. There's a much bigger picture that should be talked about and changes should be made, but the way people are handling this situation is so petty and attention seek-ish. They will be a kissing the Oscar ass again in the future when they get a nod they actually deserve.

So now that he's so established and powerful, how many black directors did he promote? These days stars get movies made. He produced that movie to make his son famous. Director? White.

I guess that's the thing you care about that many people don't "the way people are handling this situation".

I think that's irrelevant to the actual discussion. It's a distraction. The fact of the matter is only 1 black woman had won lead in 88 years.

And black (and other minorities...who don't speak up but will inevitably ride the tailcoat of any progress as they've historically done...) have been excluded for 2 straight years.

Gimme a break, this isn't the 50's. Do I think that there should be more roles and more recognition for black actors in Hollywood? Sure. But to act like there's a systematic racism within the Academy and trying to FORCE them to nominate black actors just so they can feel happy and included is pathetic.

Again, if black actors/directors want to be nominated to the Oscars so much, give better performances and make better movies. Which they haven't been doing.

Any professional actor should be ashamed of that accent. That role was tragic and the fact that he has the nerve to rant now
