Nelly was the #3 artist of the decade which is commendable but he's a hip POP artist.
He was not taken seriously just like a Will smith (minus the classic summertime) for lyricism or even great albums.
Nelly had good hip pop eras with smash uptempo songs that embodied every stereotype of what hip hop represents.
Excellent over and over was legit and it's a shame he fell off but that's because he was more about the singles than the albums
He also was part of the problem hip hop going commercial for catchiness and money and taking away it's essence in the 2000s.
Still good at what he does though
